JOSEPH JARMAN (81) / AMERICAN JAZZ MUSICIAN, COMPOSER AND SHINSHU BUDDHIST PRIEST, ONE OF THE FIRST MEMBERS OF AACM (THE ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF CREATIVE MUSICIANS) FOUNDED IN 1965 IN CHICAGO AND A MEMBER OF THE ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO. IN 1978 RECORDED FOR TRIO WITH ANTHONY BRAXTON BUT APART FROM THAT HE MAINLY RECORDED WITH AEOC OR UNDER HIS OWN NAME.

MICKEY COYLE / ENGLISH PUNK MUSICIAN, REGULAR STAND IN BASS PLAYER WITH GBH, DIED SUDDENLY ONE DAY BEFORE THE BAND'S GIG AT THE 100 CLUB IN LONDON (RESOLUTION 2019: GBH + THE VARUKERS). HE USED TO PLAY IN BIRMINGHAM PUNK BAND THE WRETCHED WHO LATER CHANGED THEIR NAME TO DEAD WRETCHED HAVING DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE OTHER BANDS WITH THAT NAME. DEAD WRETCHED PLAYED SHOWS WITH GBH, DISCHARGE, THE VARUKERS, THE EXPLOITED AND DRONGOS FOR EUROPE. LATER SOME OF THE MEMBERS LEFT TO START A NEW, GEN X INFLUENCED BAND CALLED THE BURNING WHICH WAS FRONTED BY MICKEY COYLE.

LORNA DOOM (61) / AMERICAN PUNK ROCK BASS PLAYER WITH THE GERMS, A LEGENDARY LOS ANGELES BAND WHICH STARTED IN 1976. LORNA DOOM A.K.A. TERESA RYAN WAS PART OF THE MAIN EARLY LINEUP TOGETHER WITH SINGER DARBY CRASH A.K.A. JAN PAUL BEAHM (DIED DECEMBER 7, 1980), GUITARIST PAT SMEAR A.K.A. GEORG RUTHENBERG AND DON BOLLES ON DRUMS. THIS LINEUP GIGGED AND RECORDED 1976-1980. THEY ONLY MADE ONE ALBUM, JOAN JETT PRODUCED (GI) ON SLASH RECORDS IN 1979. LORNA'S ONLY COMPOSITION FOR THE GROUP WAS NOW I HEAR THE LAUGHTER (FIRST APPEARING ON A SMASHING TRIBUTE ALBUM FOR THE GERMS A SMALL CIRCLE OF FRIENDS IN 1996). WHEN DARBY CRASH COMMITTED SUICIDE OVERDOSING ON HEROIN, THE GERMS DISBANDED. THEY REFORMED IN 2005 AND PLAYED UNTIL 2009. THE GERMS WERE FEATURED IN A PENELOPE SPHEERIS' FAMOUS DOCUMENTARY ON HARDCORE AND PUNK THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION (1981) AND RODGER GROSSMAN'S "FAKE DOCUMENTARY" BIOPIC WHAT WE DO IS SECRET (2007).

DEBI MARTINI / AMERICAN PUNK ROCK SINGER AND BASSIST WITH AN ALL-FEMALE PUNK BAND THE RED AUNTS. THEY FORMED IN 1991 IN LONG BEACH IN CALIFORNIA AND WERE ASSOCIATED WITH PUNK ROCK AND GARAGE PUNK. THEY HAD NO MUSICAL TRAINING AND STARTED REHEARSING IN DEBI'S GARAGE. ACTIVE 1992-1998, THEY MANAGED TO MAKE FIVE ALBUMS, TWO ON SYMPATHY FOR THE RECORD INDUSTRY AND THREE ON EPITAPH. RED AUNTS REFORMED IN 2016. DEBI MARTINI USED TO PUBLISH THE PUNK FANZINE REAL LIFE IN A BIG CITY.

MICHEL LEGRAND (86) / FRENCH COMPOSER, ARRANGER, CONDUCTOR, SINGER, SONGWRITER AND JAZZ PIANIST. SON OF CONDUCTOR AND COMPOSER RAYMOND LEGRAND. AT 11 STARTED STUDYING AT THE PARIS CONSERVATOIRE WITH NADIA BOULANGER AMONG OTHERS. COMPOSED OVER TWO HUNDRED FILM AND TELEVISION SCORES (LIKE LES PARAPLUIES DE CHERBOURG IN 1964, LES DEMOISELLES DE ROCHEFORT IN 1967 OR SUMMER OF '42 IN 1971), RECORDED OVER A HUNDRED ALBUMS. HAD 13 OSCAR NOMINATIONS AND WON 3 (1968, 1971, 1983), WON FIVE GRAMMYS AND WAS NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY. COMPOSED HIT SONGS THAT BECAME JAZZ STANDARDS LIKE "WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?", "THE WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND", "YOU MUST BELIEVE IN SPRING". IN 1958 RECORDED A FAMOUS HARD BOP ALBUM LEGRAND JAZZ WITH MILES DAVIS, ART FARMER, DONALD BYRD, BEN WEBSTER, JOHN COLTRANE, BILL EVANS, HANK JONES, PHIL WOODS, GEORGE DUVIVIER, MILT HINTON, PAUL CHAMBERS, HERBIE MANN AND MANY OTHER JAZZ GREATS. AT SHELLY'S MANNE-HOLE WAS AN ALBUM HE RECORDED LIVE WITH RAY BROWN AND SHELLY MANNE IN 1968. IN 1972 LEGRAND COLLABORATED WITH STAN GETZ, EDDY LOUISS AND CHRISTIANE LEGRAND ON COMMUNICATIONS '72. MADE ALSO ALBUMS WITH SARAH VAUGHAN, LENA HORN, BUD SHANK. MICHEL LEGRAND AND MILES DAVIS COMPOSED MUSIC FOR THE AUSTRALIAN FILM DINGO IN 1990.
INGO BISCHOF (68) / GERMAN MUSICIAN WHO PLAYED KEYBOARDS WITH THE KRAUTROCK AND JAZZ FUSION GROUP KRAAN IN THE YEARS 1975-2007. KRAAN WAS FORMED FIVE YEARS EARLIER, IN 1970.

PAUL WHALEY (72) / AMERICAN ROCK DRUMMER, SON OF COUNTRY MUSIC SINGER PAUL EDWARD WHALEY. STARTED CAREER WITH THE GARAGE ROCK AND PSYCHEDELIC ROCK BAND THE OXFORD CIRCLE WHO WERE ACTIVE 1964-1967. THEY ONLY RELEASED ONE SINGLE FOOLISH WOMAN (1966) AND THEIR 1960's GIG APPEARED ON NUGGETS FROM CALIFORNIA: LIVE AT THE AVALON 1966 IN 1997. THEN PAUL WHALEY JOINED PIONEERING HEAVY ROCK GROUP BLUE CHEER. THE BAND WAS NAMED AFTER A KIND OF LSD MADE BY THE GRATEFUL DEAD CLANDESTINE CHEMIST. BLUE CHEER PLAYED PSYCHEDELIC BLUES ROCK AND ARE CREDITED AS HEAVY METAL PIONEERS. THEIR 1967 COVER OF EDDIE COCHRANE'S "SUMMERTIME BLUES" IS OFTEN CONSIDERED TO BE THE FIRST HEAVY METAL SONG.

WORKED FOR RAY CHARLES AND WITH QUINCY JONES (HITS JUST ONCE AND ONE HUNDRED WAYS, BOTH FROM QUINCY JONES' S 1981 ALBUM THE DUDE). SANG DUETS WITH PATTI AUSTIN ( E.G. NUMBER 1 BABY COME TO ME), MICHAEL McDONALD, LINDA RONSTADT, DOLLY PARTON, ANITA BAKER, MALISSA MANCHESTER OR TRIOS LIKE WHAT ABOUT ME? WITH KENNY ROGERS AND KIM CARNES. ALSO WORKED WITH NANCY WILSON, NATALIE COLE, DONNA SUMMER.
