STARTED AS THE MAIN ENGINEER AT THE CAMEO PARKWAY RECORDS WORKING WITH STARS LIKE CHUBBY CHECKER, FRANKIE AVALON, FABIAN, BOBBY RYDELL (WHO DIED IN APRIL 2022), BUNNY SIGLER, DEE DEE SHARP. LATER, HIS OWN SIGMA SOUND RECORDED STEVIE WONDER, B.B. KING, DAVID BOWIE, THE FOUR TOPS AND LOTS OF OTHERS AND WAS AWARDED FOR RECORDING HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES, JERRY BUTLER, THE O'JAYS, THE STYLISTICS AND OTHERS. IN 1976 JOSEPH TARSIA OPENED THREE MORE STUDIOS IN NEW YORK, WORKING WITH WHITNEY HOUSTON, STEELY DAN, PAUL SIMON, BILLY JOEL, ASHFORD AND SIMPSON, MADONNA AMONG OTHERS. HIS RECORDINGS GOT HIM 150 GOLD AND PLATINUM RECORD AWARDS. IN 2016 TARSIA WAS INDUCTED INTO THE MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM.

EARLY 1960s IN THE BERLINER JAZZ QUINTET, KARL BLUME GROUP, KURT EDELHAGEN ORCHESTRA (TILL 1965). PLAYED FREE JAZZ WITH MANFRED SCHOOF QUINTET, THE GLOBE UNITY ORCHESTRA (1966-1980s). WORKED ALSO WITH DON CHERRY, GEORGE RUSSELL, ALBERT MANGELSDORFF, EUROPEAN JAZZ QUINTET (WITH LESZEK ZADLO, ALAN SKIDMORE, ALI HAURAND, PIERRE COURBOIS), WOLFGANG DAUNER, LOEK DIKKER, ALEXANDER VON SCHLIPPENBACH AND THE BERLIN CONTEMPORARY JAZZ ORCHESTRA.

IN 1993, WITH GUITARIST / SINGER / HUSBAND ALAN SPARHAWK, FORMED THE MINIMALIST INDIE ROCK BAND LOW AND THEY HAVE REMAINED THE ONLY PERMANENT MEMBERS TILL HER DEATH, USING FOUR DIFFERENT BASSISTS DURING THAT TIME. LOW WERE PRODUCED BY KRAMER, STEVE ALBINI, TCHAD BLAKE, DAVE FRIDMANN, JEFF TWEEDY, BJ BURTON AND THOUGH THEY OWN THE RECORD LABEL CHAIRKICKERS' UNION, IT'S MAINLY FOR OTHER BANDS, WHILE LOW WERE OFTEN RELEASED BY VERNON YARD, KRANKY, SUB POP. DOWNIE ALSO WORKED WITH THE ABYSSINIANS, BLACK UHURU, PETER TOSH, BURNING SPEAR, IAN DURY, TOM TOM CLUB, STEEL PULSE, SLY & ROBBIE, YOUSSOU N'DOUR. IN 2001 MADE SOLO ALBUM ORGAN-D.

CREATED AN INNOVATIVE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CALLED LEO (LIVE ELECTRONIC ORCHESTRA) WHICH COMBINED MANY DIFFERENT ANALOG SYNTHESIZERS INTO ONE BIG SYSTEM. WORKED WITH QUINCY JONES, SERGIO MENDES, MICHAEL JACKSON. IN 1974 SUPPORTED THE BEACH BOYS ON TOUR. 1975 AND 1976 PLAYED AT THE NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL AT CARNEGIE HALL. THE 2020 DOCUMENTARY THE BALLAD OF DON LEWIS: THE UNTOLD STORY OF A SYNTHESIZER PIONEER WAS ABOUT HIS LIFE, HIS FIGHT WITH SYSTEMIC RACISM, WITH THE MUSICIANS UNION CALLING HIM "A NATIONAL ENEMY".

AFTER THE 1986 BREAKUP, ROBERTS STOPPED PLAYING THE GUITAR AND TOURED AS A SOUND ENGINEER WITH SIMPLY RED, FLESH FOR LULU AND OMD (ORCHESTRAL MANOUVERS IN THE DARK). GAL COSTA (77) / BRAZILIAN POP AND ROCK SINGER, SINGING BOSSA NOVA , POP, PSYCHEDELIC ROCK AND WAS ONE OF THE MAIN PERSONALITIES IN THE TROPICÁLIA MUSIC SCENE (SINCE 1968) AND MPB (MÚSICA POPULAR BRASILEIRA). GAL COSTA DEBUTED PROFESSIONALLY IN 1964 AT A CONCERT WITH CAETANO VELOSO, GILBERTO GIL, MARIA BETHÂNIA, TOM ZÉ. RECORDED SONGS IN PORTUGUESE, SPANISH AND ENGLISH. BEST KNOWN FOR HIS WORK WITH THE ENGLISH SPACE ROCK, PSYCHEDELIC ROCK, PROTO-PUNK BAND HAWKWIND. HE WAS IN THE FIRST LINEUP OF HAWKWIND AND PLAYED WITH THEM 1969-1976 AND 1982-1984 ALSO APPEARING ON HAWKWIND'S BIGGEST HIT SINGLE "SILVER MACHINE" IN 1972. LATER TURNER HAD MANY INCREDIBLE COLLABORATIONS INCLUDING STEVE HILLAGE (GONG), STEVE PEREGRIN TOOK (T.
