This is a common feeling and widely-held view among lots of people around the globe.
What I am offering in the below subpages is a highly subjective and individual selection from a list that is too long to be pianlessly quoted here. In 2015 we lost Ornette Coleman, B.B. King, Clark Terry, Ben E. KIng and Natalie Cole among others, but the real Cornucopia of Death for 2016 was opened by Lemmy Kilmister who died suddenly and rather unexpectedly on December 28, 2015.
Well, for all of you who got seriously depressed, The New Yorker offers some freaky consolation:
The Worst Year Ever, Until Next Year
So we'll just have to wait and see. That's the only way to check.
But do not despair. Listen to Brian Eno again:
"Inequality eats away at the heart of a society, breeding disdain, resentment, envy, suspicion, bullying, arrogance and callousness. If we want any decent kind of future we have to push away from that, and I think we're starting to. There's so much to do, so many possibilities. 2017 should be a surprising year."
